Akina is a Memphis native. Aside from her full-time job(s), she’s also a Memphis Creative. Her passion has been developed and strengthen by the Memphis arts community since spending summers in Blues and Arts camps as a child. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she studied media media management and theater. She recently directed the play “For Colored Girls” at Evergreen theater and is gearing up to return to the space again this summer for another art experience. She’s coined the term #WhoYouReallyMadAt as a hashtag for events and discussions that unpack the controversial topics amongst black women, men, relationships and the community-at-large.
